Play Firefly on Windows

Add the Firefly addresses to your Windows hosts file, flush DNS, and reopen Growtopia.

Before you start

What you need

A Windows administrator account and the official Growtopia app.

    Back up the file

    Copy the hosts file from the folder below to a safe place.

    Hosts folder C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc

    Open an administrator editor

    Run Notepad++ or another text editor with Run as administrator.

  3. 3

    Open hosts

    Open the exact file path below and choose All files if it is hidden.

    Hosts file C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts

    Paste the two lines

    Add both lines at the end of the file without removing existing entries.

    Save correctly

    Use the exact filename hosts with no .txt extension.

    Flush DNS

    Open Command Prompt as administrator and run the exact command below.

    Flush DNS ipconfig /flushdns
  7. 7

    Open Growtopia

    Fully close the game, launch it again, and sign in.

Troubleshooting

If Firefly doesn't open

  • Access denied means the editor was not opened as administrator.
  • If the file becomes hosts.txt, use All files and rename it to hosts.
  • To return to official Growtopia, delete only the two Firefly lines, save, flush DNS, and reopen the game.
